Coached by ex-University of Washington player and current halfback with the Multnomah Winged M's Robert M. Roy, Albina played in the "lightweight" division of 1908 Portland Independent football.

Prior to the 1911 season, Sherry came over from the Columbus Club.

Albina caught a break when Sunnyside and Holladay dropped out of the 1912 Arthur-Wiggins League at the last minute opening the schedule that they and Stephens would fill.  During the Dec 22, 1912 Championship game, Sgt. Peachin and five "bluecoats" with billy clubs in hand were necessary to quell disturbances between players and spectators, with a fan-fight breaking out in the 4th quarter of the Albina victory over F.E. Watkins.

Albina started what was hoped to be a 3-game series with the Kenilworth team on Oct 17, 1920 for the Independent Championship of Portland.

The 1922 Aces defeated Holy Name in the season opener 18-0 only to have the victory stripped away for being 2-pounds overweight in the 130lb division.  John Lebor and Jack Grossmayer attempted to schedule more games including a return bout with Holy Name after defeating Kenton for what would have been the Spalding Junior 130lb Championship.  Playing a double-header on Dec 3, the Aces skunked both Highland and Peninsula in back-to-back fashion.  The return match with Holy Name was never booked and the season came to a close with a league-awarded 1-0 forfeit loss the only smudge on the Aces season. In a game of inches, two-pounds became the difference between a championship trophy and sour grapes.  On the field Albina scored victories over two league champs in Holy Name and Peninsula, 140-pound Champs of the Honeyman League thereby claiming the City Title as top 140lb team.

Following the 1931 season, many players emerged with the Piedmont Athletic Club. This continued the long-standing "Albina - St. Johns Rivalry" as Piedmont won the 1932 title but collapsed following a 44-0 thrashing at the hands of the West Seattle Yellowjackets for the Northwest Championship in 1933 that ended 11-straight games without a loss.
