Announced as a new team in the Mountain West Football League, the
Mayhem were originally going to be the Billings Vikings but changed
the name a few weeks prior to kickoff even after facebook postings
showed uniforms had already been ordered with "Vikings" on them.
Mark Addington was announced as the head coach in November only to
switch to Dedrick Bergen just three weeks later, Bergen having been
announced as the head coach in October of 2024. Hosting the Rapid City War Eagles out of South Dakota in the first game, the Mayhem let a one-point loss slip by in a tight battle 27-26. The Montana Monsters were next on the schedule but dropped out leaving two vacant weeks on an already shortened schedule. Defending MWFL champion Utah Panthers came to town and blasted Magic City following the unplanned bye week. A long 9.5 hour road trip to Boise was capped with a third loss to the Savage, a new entrant to the league having left the Idaho Contact League after 2024. Another Idaho team made the trek to Montana and the Mayhem finally got the franchise first victory in dramatic fashion, a 34-28 double-overtime win over the Treasure Valley Invaders leading into another bye week originally slated for the Monsters.
