Created in 1911 out of Northwest Portland's "Alphabet District" known for it's lavish Victorian and Edwardian architecture, the football team representing the neighborhood played mainly as one of the many "lightweights" of the city.  It's first outing in the Archer-Wiggins League was a rude awakening as Sunnyside demolished the Hillers 60-0.  Finding a better battle against Willamette Heights in a 17-16 loss, it was decided the two teams would combine for the remainder of the season and the combined team under the Willamette banner would make it to the Section II championship game against Sunnyside losing 5-0.

Nob Hill would again be rekindled in January 1912 and was reported to be composed of Lincoln High ballers who were named the Oregon Interscholastic State Champion team under a different name. The new lineup was a vast improvement and challenged the Holladay Club for the Portland City Independent Championship.  The teams battled to a 0-0 tie on January 28th.

The Hillers would kick off the "official" 1912 season again in the Junior ranks and challenged the 125lb City Champion Columbia Park Juniors for the title on November 16th.  Nob Hill defeated Columbia Park 6-0 taking the title away.  The aggressive Hillers played the Columbia University Juniors the following week and were humbled 20-0 by the collegians.

Nob Hill's Ed Shea and Ralph Smith would be barred from the independent leagues in 1915 as they were part of interscholastic teams beginning a process of separating high school players from the athletic club teams.
